We’re Done Shrinking: Why Botticelli Is Now Sizes S–3X

Twenty-three years ago, I opened Botticelli because I knew exactly what it felt like to walk into a clothing store and think:

None of this is meant for me.

I wanted to create a different kind of store. A place where women could find great clothes, get honest help and shop without feeling judged because of their body, their size or their age.

For many years, Botticelli became known as a plus-size women’s clothing store in Rhode Island. I’m incredibly proud of that history. Plus-size women were ignored by fashion for far too long, and creating a place where they could actually enjoy shopping has been one of the best parts of the past 23 years.

But somewhere along the way, I realized something.

It isn’t just plus-size women who feel left out anymore.

Women Are Tired of Being Told What They Should Wear

I hear it constantly.

I’m too old for that.

I can’t show my arms.

I need to hide my stomach.

I can’t wear something that bright.

I’ll buy it after I lose ten pounds.

At some point, fashion stopped being fun and became another list of rules women were expected to follow.

And I’m over it.

Wear the sleeveless dress.

Buy the bright pants.

Show your arms.

Take the picture.

Wear the damn thing.

Botticelli Is Now Sizes S–3X

That’s why we’ve expanded Botticelli to carry women’s clothing in sizes S–3X.

But I want to be very clear about something:

We aren’t forgetting where we came from. We’re taking everything we learned with us.

For 23 years, women have taught me what it means to walk into a store and actually feel considered.

That’s what size-inclusive fashion should mean.

I don’t want to throw three size smalls on a rack and congratulate ourselves for being inclusive.

I want a woman who wears a Small and a woman who wears a 3X to walk into Botticelli and have the exact same thought:

They thought about me.

That’s the goal.

This Isn’t Really a Rebrand

It’s a declaration.

STYLE WITHOUT APOLOGY.

We’re building a store for grown women who are tired of being told to disappear.

Women whose bodies have changed.

Women whose lives have changed.

Women who aren’t 25 anymore—and don’t particularly want to be.

Women who still love clothes, color, jewelry, getting dressed up, trying something new and occasionally wearing something that makes their friends say, “Where did you GET that?”

Those are my women.

What Comes Next for Botticelli

I don’t dream about having hundreds of stores.

I dream about building a size-inclusive women’s fashion brand that makes women laugh, feel seen and stop apologizing.

We’re taking what we’ve created here in Smithfield, Rhode Island and building a stronger online Botticelli so women outside New England can discover us too.

And we’re just getting started.

Twenty-three years in, I can say something I probably couldn’t have said when I opened those doors in 2003:

I finally know exactly what I want Botticelli to stand for.

Wear what makes you happy. Take up some damn space.
